Crystals liquids

The crystals liquids, or in order better to say "the possessed liquid-crystalline property from some organic compounds", were discoveries in the 1888 from the Austrian botanist Friedrich Reinitzer.
Reinitzer noticed that heating of the colesterile benzoate this at first it became opaque, in order then to schiarirsi to the progressive one to raise itself of the temperature. Once cooled, the liquid became bluastro and then it crystallized.

In practical such substances directly from the solid state to that liquid, but in particular conditions they are in a position to organizing itself in makes (mesofasiintermediate) that they introduce characteristics is of the crystalline solid state that of that liquid. This dualismo justifies the term with which these compounds are indicated: crystals liquids.
